Qwanoes Summer Staff 2012
Operations Positions: (Food Services/Maintenance)
Serve God in a vital capacity this summer with an open door to ministry, working in the areas of food services, housekeeping and maintenance. Some positions focus specifically in one area all summer, while "Operations Support Crew" provides opportunities to serve in a variety of areas. Many of these positions require a higher level of training and experience, and offer challenge and responsibility to the motivated leader.
All of these positions are scheduled to provide a number of hours in the day for rest and hang—out time, and also for involvement with the camp program. When not scheduled on regular duties, operations staff are encouraged to assist in many ways such as helping with activities and events, talking with campers on the sidelines, being involved in a skit, or sharing their testimony or a devotional with a cabin. There are also opportunities to serve in the split role of senior counselor and operations.
Sous-Chef (2 Positions)
Option 1 Apr. 25 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $6800; Qwanoes contributes $3000 if needed.)
Option 2 Jun. 6 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $4600; Qwanoes contributes $2000 if needed.)
This vital leadership position directly assists the Head Chefs with all aspects of food preparation, service and leadership, including grilling, cooking, etc. Must have a passion for cooking and culinary experience and/or training is required. There is opportunity to gain leadership skills through helping the Head Chefs lead the kitchen team. There is also opportunity when not scheduled to regular duties to interact with campers and staff, help with events, or share your testimony or a devotional with a cabin group. Encouraged to attend Staff Leadership Orientation. If you can’t make it all summer, come as a volunteer for one or more weeks!
Kitchen Crew Trainer
Apr. 25 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $6800; Qwanoes contributes $3000 if needed.)
This vital leadership position directly assists the Head Chefs and Food Services Manager in training new kitchen crew members, as well as performing the tasks of a Kitchen Assistant when training is not required. There is opportunity to gain cooking and leadership skills through helping the food team leadership. There is also opportunity when not scheduled to regular duties to interact with campers and staff, help with events, or share your testimony or a devotional with a cabin group. Encouraged to attend Staff Leadership Orientation. If you can’t make it all summer, come as a volunteer for one or more weeks!

Kitchen Assistant
Option 1 Apr. 25 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $6500; Qwanoes contributes $2675 if needed.)
Option 2 Jun. 6 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $4400; Qwanoes contributes $1650 if needed.)
Assists the Head Chefs in all aspects of food preparation and service, including preparing cold parts of meals, kitchen cleanliness, and meal serving station leaders. Requires an aptitude for food preparation to large groups and willingness to learn. Some culinary experience is an asset, and there is opportunity to learn further cooking or baking skills if desired. There is also opportunity when not scheduled to regular duties to interact with campers and staff, help with events, or share your testimony or a devotional with a cabin group. If you can’t make it all summer, come as a volunteer for one or more weeks!
Kitchen Assistant: Baking
Apr. 25 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $6500; Qwanoes contributes $2675 if needed.)
Responsible for assisting the Head Chefs in preparing baked goods, and for general Kitchen Assistant duties when not baking. Please see "Kitchen Assistant" description above.
Kitchen Assistant: Special Diets
Apr. 25 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $6500; Qwanoes contributes $2675 if needed.)
Responsible for assisting the Head Chefs in preparing alternative meals for people with allergies and other special diets, and for general Kitchen Assistant duties when meals for special diets are not required. Please see "Kitchen Assistant" description above.

Food Services Crew Chief
Apr. 25 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $6800; Qwanoes contributes $3000 if needed.)
This vital leadership position is responsible to the Food Services Manager for leading, managing, training and providing spiritual discipleship to all dishwashing and dining room personnel for the operation of the dining room. This hands-on leadership position includes cleaning, setting and food serving. We seek someone with a servant’s heart, a desire to strive for excellence and the ability to work with and lead a team. Required to attend Staff Leadership Orientation.
Assistant Food Services Crew Chief (2 Positions)
Option 1 May. 9 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $5650; Qwanoes contributes $2175 if needed.)
Option 2 May. 30 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $4800; Qwanoes contributes $1750 if needed.)
Assists the Food Services Crew Chief in providing spiritual discipleship and practical leadership to all dishwasher and dining room personnel. This hands-on leadership position includes cleaning, setting and food serving. Must have a servant’s heart and the ability to work well within a team. Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option. Required to attend Staff Leadership Orientation.
Food Purchaser Assistant
May. 30 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $4800; Qwanoes contributes $1750 if needed.)
Assists the Food Purchaser by helping maintain food inventory, re-stocking, assisting with records, cleaning coolers and stock areas, general kitchen clean up, and running food services errands. Often includes heavy lifting.
Janitor (2 Positions)
Option 1 Apr. 25 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $6500; Qwanoes contributes $2435 if needed.)
Option 2 Jun. 6 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $4400; Qwanoes contributes $1650 if needed.)
Primarily involves daily cleaning and general upkeep of camp buildings and grounds under the supervision of the Maintenance Crew Chief. There is also opportunity when not scheduled to regular duties to interact with campers and staff, help with events, or share your testimony or a devotional with a cabin group. If you can’t make it all summer, come as a volunteer for one or more weeks!
Operations Support Crew
Jun. 22 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $3950; Qwanoes contributes $1400 if needed.)
OSC offers experience in a variety of areas of service, including food services (dishwashing, dining room set-up and kitchen helping), maintenance (housekeeping, janitorial and work projects), and specialized activity areas according to qualifications (ex. lifeguarding). Leaders will also offer you spiritual discipleship and there will be many opportunities to assist in the camp program. If you can’t make it all summer, come as a volunteer for one or more weeks! OSC volunteers must be at least 16 by Dec. 31, 2012.
Maintenance Projects
Apr. 1 to Sep. 30 Serve from one week to four months (Volunteer Position)
Assist the Director of Operations with a variety of building, renovation, or upgrading projects. Carpentry skills are an asset. There is also opportunity when not scheduled to regular duties to interact with campers and staff, help with events, or share your testimony or a devotional with a cabin group.
Maintenance Crew Chief
Apr. 25 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $6800; Qwanoes contributes $3000 if needed.)
This vital leadership position is responsible to the Director of Operations for leading, managing, training and providing practical spiritual discipleship to all janitorial personnel for the cleaning and general upkeep of buildings and grounds. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will work along-side the crew, leading by example. We seek someone with a general aptitude in this area, a servant’s heart, a desire to strive for excellence, and the ability to work with and lead a team. Required to attend Staff Leadership Orientation.
Assistant Maintenance Crew Chief (1 Male & 2 Females)

Option 2 May. 30 to Sep. 2 (Support Goal: $4800; Qwanoes contributes $1750 if needed.)
