Qwanoes Summer Staff 2010

Administrative Positions:

Serve God in a critical ministry capacity this summer, using your skills and experience in the key area of administration to help keep everything together and running smoothly. Many of these positions require a higher level of training and experience, and offer challenge and responsibility to the motivated leader.

Camp Store Manager

Apr. 28 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $6400; Qwanoes contributes $2925 if needed.)

Responsible for managing the Tuck Shop, Ice Cream Island, and Club Coco, overseeing store staff, and providing administrative support in a variety of areas. Must have good organizational and communication skills, computer experience and/or training in general office management. Required to attend Staff Leadership Orientation.

Club Coco Host

May. 11 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $5300; Qwanoes contributes $2125 if needed.)

Responsible for hosting and operating Club Coco and is part of the Camp Store team. Club Coco is a "club-like" hangout and activity area. Position includes operating the food/store of Club Coco, and coordinating the activity portion with the Land Activity Leader. Must have good organizational and communication skills. Previous training and/or experience in a retail food environment is helpful but not necessary. Also may assist with other administrative or program support as required.

Ice Cream Island Host

Jun. 25 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $3900; Qwanoes contributes $1350 if needed.)

Responsible for hosting and operating Ice Cream Island and is part of the Camp Store team. Must have good organizational and communication skills. Previous training and/or experience in a retail food service environment is helpful but not necessary. Also may assist with other administrative or program support as required.

Administrative Assistant - General Support

May. 18 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $5000; Qwanoes contributes $1925 if needed.)

Provides administrative support in a variety of areas, including registration, assisting with various administrative tasks as required, as well as helping in the camp store. Requires good organizational skills, computer experience, and knowledge of popular computer programs including Word and Excel. For a related position, see Registrar Assistant.

Laundry/Lost & Found Coordinator

Jun. 8 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $4200; Qwanoes contributes $1600 if needed.)

Responsible for organizing and running the daily staff laundry service, and for the organizing and running of lost and found. Must have a current driver’s license (class 4 is an asset). Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option.

Laundry Assistant/Activity Support

Jun. 25 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $3700; Qwanoes contributes $1350 if needed.)

Involves assisting the Laundry Coordinator with organizing and running the daily staff laundry service and lost and found. A current driver’s license is helpful. The role may include occasionally assisting with activities according to abilities and your schedule. Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option. If you can’t make it all summer, come as a volunteer for one or more weeks!

First Aid Attendant

May. 11 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $5675; Qwanoes contributes $2800 if needed.)

Coordinates and/or assists with all aspects of camp health, including first aid, health care, training staff, general maintenance, administration and general program support. Must have previous experience and current training in advanced first aid (min. OFA Level 3), and good organizational, people and caring skills. Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option. Required to attend Staff Leadership Orientation.

First Aid Assistant

Jun. 8 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $4650; Qwanoes contributes $1850 if needed.)

Assists the First Aid Attendant by providing first aid, administrative support, purchasing and stocking medical supplies, and ensuring necessary records are current. Must have previous experience and current training in first aid (min. OFA Level 1, prefer Level 2 or 3) and good organizational, people and caring skills. Must have current driver’s license (class 4 is an asset).

Doctor/Nurse

Serve one to ten weeks (Volunteer Position)

A medical doctor or a qualified RN is needed at each camp to work in conjunction with the summer-long first aid attendant. Minimum basic first aid training is an asset.

Child Care/Support

Apr. 28 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $6025; Qwanoes contributes $2350 if needed.)

Involves the care of young camp staff children on a part-time basis. May also include general support in other areas such as administration, program or operations, according to abilities, experience and child care schedule. Must be at least 18, and have previous experience and a passion for caring for very young children. Previous completion of a recognized early childhood credential is an asset. Inquire if you are not able to arrive until June 20. If you are younger than 18, please inquire about opportunities to come as a volunteer for a week or more.

Staff Concierge

May. 18 to Sep. 5 (Support Goal: $5000; Qwanoes contributes $1925 if needed.)

Responsible for helping to care for and assist summer staff in practical ways, and helping facilitate the meeting of observed needs. For example, obtaining requested items from town, banking, helping with fall course selection, booking airline tickets, assisting with special staff events, problem-solving and other benefits to our busy staff team. A key part of the Staffing Team, this role requires resourcefulness and excellent organizational and communication skills. Inquire about earlier Advance Crew option.

Health & Ferry Driver

Jun. 8 to Sep. 5 Serve from one week to two months (Volunteer Position)

Responsible for assisting with transportation needs of staff and campers/guests, primarily to hospitals, clinics, ferry terminals, and airports. Must have a class 4 driver’s license (class 2 is an asset) and supply a driver’s abstract. Must be at least 20.

Ferry Supervision Assistant

Jul. 3 to Sep. 5 Serve on the first and last day of each camp for one or more weeks (Volunteer Position)

Assists the Qwanoes Transportation Coordinator in bringing campers from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal to Duke Point Ferry Terminal on the first day of every camp, and then from Duke Point to Tsawwassen on the last day of each camp. Qwanoes will cover all ferry costs.

General Support

May to Oct Serve from one week to two months (Volunteer Position)

Assists with a variety of general support duties including driving, luggage, laundry, purchasing, errands, administrative support, staffing, etc.
