Challenge Ropes Course Instructor Training Workshop
Date: April 30 to May 2, 2010
If you desire to serve in a dynamic high-adventure setting, this is for you. Experience the joy of offering challenges to people of all ages that will build their self-confidence, communication, problem-solving, and team-work abilities.
Highlights:
Learn to lead rock-wall climbing and ropes course activities—including first-hand experience on all elements. You will get an intensive theoretical and experiential introduction to adventure program planning, set-up and take-down procedures, group facilitation skills, technical skills, and safety and risk management. Belay school training will be provided for beginners (Qwanoes Challenge Course Instructor Level One). No previous experience is necessary.
Certification:
Participants who complete this workshop successfully will achieve Qwanoes Challenge Course Instructor Level One.

Music Team Workshop
Date: May 7 to 8, 2010
This workshop is designed to help equip you for being part of a worship team at camp or church.
Highlights:
Examine techniques of leading worship, explore the dynamics of a worship team, gain tips for choosing songs for church and camp settings, find out how to best introduce new songs, learn new praise and worship songs, get an introduction to writing your own songs, and enjoy a time of worship and singing to God.

Counselor Training Seminar
Date: May 14 to 16, 2010
Highlights:
Discover the importance of becoming the kind of leader whom God can use in the lives of others. Learn and discuss the theory of discipleship and leadership in the camp setting through several sessions each day. Gain skills and knowledge in counseling, servant leadership, preparing and leading devotions, camper characteristics, discipline, and communicating the gospel. Participants will receive a copy of The Christian Camp Counselor.
Who It's For:
This is a rigorous, condensed version of our summer Counselor-In-Training course, and is offered to adults who have graduated from high school. This seminar is strongly recommended for those who plan to counsel this summer and are new to Qwanoes or have no previous counseling experience.

Staff Leadership Orientation
Date: May 28 to 30, 2010
Highlights:
This will provide essential preparation for your role as a leader this summer. Refine your vision and prepare to serve as a leader! This dynamic weekend will help shape the core of our summer staff team as together we will seek to lay the foundations for effective ministry.
Discuss the issues surrounding your role as a leader at Qwanoes this summer. This weekend will help you work together with other leaders as a team and make you aware of the vision, philosophy, and guiding principles of Qwanoes. It will help you get ready to tackle issues faced by any leader and those specific to this ministry. A "can't miss" opportunity!
Who It's For:
This weekend is required for every summer staff member in a specified leadership position as noted in the "Summer Staff Opportunities" section. If you are interested in one of these positions but it is impossible for you to attend this weekend, please contact us as soon as possible.

Waterski/Wakeboard Instructor Training Workshop
Date: June 4 to 6, 2010
Highlights:
Develop skills that will enable you to coach waterskiing and wakeboarding—including lots of practical experience. You will get an intensive theoretical and experiential introduction to ski program planning, teaching skills, technical skills, and safety management. This workshop will focus on preparing you to teach combo and slalom waterskiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, trick skiing and includes introductory boat driving. Note: special training for boat drivers and waterfront leadership will begin June 5 at 12:30 pm.
Certification:
Participants who complete this workshop successfully will achieve Qwanoes Waterski/Wakeboard Instructor certification.

You must be at least 17 years of age (by Dec. 31, 2010), already know how to slalom waterski and/or wakeboard, and/or are applying for boat driving. Boat drivers must be at least 18, have a Canadian Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC), and have a basic first aid certificate.

Events Team Workshop
Date: May 7 to 8, 2010
Creating adventure & maintaining safety. If you're interested in helping introduce campers to the extraordinary and you're not too scared to step way outside your comfort zone, then this workshop is for you!
Highlights:
Explore the philosophy behind events to better understand the impact you can have on the life of a camper. Learn how to plan, prepare, and lead events for small and large groups.

Food Services Workshop
Date: May 7 to 8, 2010
Highlights:
Develop skills for cooking for small to large groups, with a focus on practical insights, recipe and menu planning, portion control, recipe resizing, and batch cookery techniques.

Health Care Workshop
Date: May 7 to 8, 2010
This workshop is designed to help equip you for being on the camp health care team whether serving for one week or an entire summer of ministry.
Highlights:
Meet other medical professionals who serve at Camp Qwanoes and get connected as an important member of the extended Qwanoes Health Care Team.
Topics that will be discussed include:
Qwanoes health care policies, equipment, challenges and opportunities as a camp health care volunteer or seasonal staff member, emerging issues that camps are currently facing or will in the future, and other vital camp health care topics. There will also be a time to review the current Health Care Guide, focus on new policies/updates as well as an open time to offer any feedback.
