Qwanoes Internship

Sept. 2012 to End Of Summer 2013 (includes Summer Staff 2013)
Purpose:
Obtain hands-on training in the exciting field of camp and recreation ministry, and gain a vision for and an understanding of the power of camp ministry to impact today's children and youth. Though much of the time is spent serving in the daily operations and maintenance of the camp, there is also opportunity to focus on one area that is suited to your personal interests, abilities, and future goals. This may include follow-up/staffing, administration, camp property management, recreation, events, Kaléo program, video/web development or food services.
Included:
Interns will be guided through Bible study, personal study and assignments,and the daily example and encouragement of camp staff who have years of experience in camp ministry. You will have the opportunity to take our college-level accredited Camp & Youth Ministry course, get certified in basic first aid and obtain other certifications, receive specialized activity and leadership training in workshops offered at Qwanoes, and you may be able to attend a camp conference. For the summer you will serve in a key summer staff role.
College Course Options:
Interns have the opportunity to engage in Christian college education by taking Briercrest College courses for full credit. Interns may choose up to eight courses and the level of financial support from Qwanoes is adjusted accordingly. Interns can also take other post-secondary courses (fees not provided by Qwanoes).
Provided:
Camp Qwanoes provides room, board and basic living expenses for interns, plus costs for all benefits listed above according to the type of internship..

We are seeking 4 to 6 interns per year. Qualifications include minimum age 19 years (by Dec. 31, 2012); one recent summer of Qwanoes staff experience; one year of Bible College, other post-secondary education, or work experience; and appropriate qualifications, experience, and abilities.
