Qwanoes Internship
Date:
Sept. 2010 to End Of Summer 2011 (includes Summer Staff 2011)
Now accepting applications for Jan. 2011 to Dec. 2011 and Sept. 2011 to End Of Summer 2012
Purpose:
Gain hands-on training in the exciting field of camping and recreation ministry. Though much of the time is spent serving in the daily operations and maintenance of the camp, there is also opportunity to focus on one area that is suited to your personal interests, abilities, and future goals. This may include follow-up/staffing, administration, camp property management, recreation, events, Kaléo Student Life Intern, video/web site development or food services.
Program:
Interns will be guided through Bible study, personal study and assignments, and the daily example and encouragement of full-time staff who have years of experience in Christian camping. Take a post-secondary correspondence course (note: tuition fees are the responsibility of the intern) and one Kaléo course (provided by Qwanoes), get certified in Occupational First Aid, and take in other workshops offered at Qwanoes. May also include attending a Christian camping conference.
Provided:
Camp Qwanoes provides room, board and basic living expenses for interns, plus costs for all benefits listed above except where otherwise noted.
To Apply:
A minimum of one year of Bible College or other post-secondary education is required, in addition to previous camp experience and leadership training. Between 2 and 4 applicants are selected, most often from among accepted summer staff, usually part way through the summer.
